The best gift
With every day we seemed to win together, she lost another one. It wasn't experience, it wasn't memories, it certainly wasn't money, yet she stayed, still betting on victory. Fatigue, complaints, demands, a few strands of gray. Yes, she was winning, without realizing that losing me was the greatest prize I could offer. It was the least I owed her. I left her shattered, drowning in tears, almost as lifeless as I was- the saddest winner in the world.
