I still remember when we were full of life when we didn’t know our names or even our birth dates We were beginners in existence strangers to suffering our minds was blank and open we were unaware of everything We were called children but I called it the beginning of nothing we promised to make our families proud while quietly afraid inside They always said we would be safe until we learned it wasn’t true now we are anxious and afraid of what might happen at any time It could be death it could be something worse we don’t know and we never wanted to know I wish I could go back to being a child again a child who didn’t worry about life or death a child unburdened by the future I just want a simple, happy life but maybe that’s impossible in this world now I am a man and I understand suffering, struggle, worry, and pain I understand things I once wished didn’t exist but that is life you only don’t understand it when you’re small until you grow up and do...
