The Becoming
Healing is slow but also steady Sometimes feels heavy Other days feels light The journey is not easy But the ending is something Trying hard to grow and glow Like a flower preparing itself to sprout and bloom Watering myself with my tears Which I've invited like old friends Days getting longer Whiles healing feels like forever Now I walk with scars that sparkle like armor, A heart stitched in gold, And eyes that no longer chase love— But recognize it in the mirror. Feeling my spirit rising, like the sun shines every morning The girl with whom I'm becoming is still developing and healing Like a character from a fictional book in a story Ready for her next chapter, as she writes her story
