The Battle’s Lament
**The Battle’s Lament** In fields where shadows cling to soil, Where fire licks the night, fierce and royal, The sky turns red as blood-soaked ground, And silent cries make hollow sound. Steel meets flesh in the dawn's cold breath, A dance of honor tainted with death. Through smoke and screams, lives fade away, In cruel embrace of war’s decay. Bones lie hidden under shattered skies, Eyes frozen wide in their last goodbyes. The air is thick with iron and dust, With dreams turned ash and courage crushed. For every blade that cuts the night, A broken heart, a stolen light. And yet they march, through pain and fear, In the name of those they hold most dear. But what is won when peace is lost? When victory comes at such a cost? The blood may dry, the guns may cease, But scars of war outlast the peace.
