The Art Of My Undoing
I stare when you're not looking, Watching you smile at yourself, so lost in your own world. By the time you catch my lingering gaze, All I can ask is: What am I doing? They say, "Don’t underestimate the allure of darkness, For even the purest hearts are drawn to it." And I hate to admit it’s true, For I have fallen for you, like a fool. You are everything I’m meant to hate, Yet somehow, you are the poison I crave. You enchanted me after a date or two, And now I can’t imagine setting aside What lingers between us two. Twice I ended it, Twice I came back— Like the fool I am, I fall back into your arms, So tenderly, And I stay, Even if it threatens all I hold dear. I ask myself, How can someone so strong and mighty Be weakened so easily By something as simple, yet paradoxical, as love? A love forbidden by all, Yet I choose to stand— To stand by you, With you, Wherever this love takes us, Whether to the stars or to hell. Because at the end of the day, Heaven and hell are but theories, Whereas you and I are everything in the making. You, my dear, My love, Are the art of my undoing.
