The Ache of Optimism
At what point does optimism no longer ache? I'm tried of playing this game, hoping for the best and thinking maybe you'll change. I'm tired of having to be the happy one, letting go despite the pain and acting like everything's okay. Save me before I am nothing more but ashes, Before I have been burned too many times. I fear am becoming unrecognizable But darling just look into my eyes My soul remains the same Optimistic A hopeless romantic, I fall into your eyes once more And the cycle begins all over again. When will this ache begin to fade?
