That friendship...
Jake had always been the life of the party, but lately, his laughter seemed forced, and his eyes held a distant sadness. It didn't take long for his best friend, Sam, to notice. One rainy afternoon, Sam found Jake sitting alone on a park bench, shoulders slumped. Without a word, Sam sat down beside him, the rain pattering softly around them. "I don't know what's wrong with me," Jake finally muttered, voice barely audible. "I feel lost, like I'm drowning and can't find the surface." Sam put a reassuring hand on Jake's shoulder. "You're not alone in this," he said. "We can face it together." Over the following weeks, Sam was always there—whether it was for long talks over coffee, late-night phone calls, or just sitting in comforting silence. He encouraged Jake to seek professional help and accompanied him to the first few therapy sessions. Gradually, Jake began to find his footing again. The laughter returned, this time genuine and warm. One evening, as they watched the sunset, Jake turned to Sam. "I couldn't have done it without you," he said. Sam smiled. "That's what friends are for," he replied. "To be there, especially when the world feels too heavy to carry alone."
