Thank You
My life has been a melody Of love and wonderment of all. And now I hear a threnody Accompanying my funeral pall. I, silent stand outside myself And take sweet solace from my life. It was a blessed and fruitful one, Somewhat calm and free from strife. These eyes saw beauty everywhere, In nature and in people too. In reading verses from those who care, It was enough to get me through. I'm listening for the midnight train That I will board for heaven's gate. The whistle blows a sad refrain; It's inward bound, it won't be late. Thank you Lord for this life of mine You gave me to live upon this earth. And that my soul was intertwined With your love and your Son's rebirth.
