Tethered By A Thread.
T'was high and mild, the voice that seeped Through the walls,I hearkened and deep, A silver thread on Twilight's loom, That chased the shadows from my room. And from my post, a narrow stage, I watched the dance of light and gauze, The curtain, like a restless ghost, Would grant a glimpse, then hide the most A silhouette, a fleeting grace, The merest outline of a face. But in her song,a world took flight, Of boundless day from captive night. She sang not of the walls that bound, But of a distant, sunlit sound; A dream too vast for balcony, That rushed like waves and set her free. And I, who only knew her shade, Felt every hope her music made. Two strangers tethered by a thread, A world of silence, one of song, Yet in that chord,we both belonged. So let the curtain ebb and flow, And hide the face I do not know. For I have seen her truest part Not with my eyes, but with my heart.
