Tequila And Whiskey
You are tequila, As I am whiskey. Everyone knows we shouldn’t mix. And yet we were for years. As you sweetened yourself for others, I got you straight. Like a kick to the back of my throat no one saw. The numbness of my tongue stings, Tears fall from pain of coughing up my own self esteem. Over time, I learned to be smooth, To calm souls, To warm the hearts around, Though few like me straight, And I’m not one to “fan the flames” of fun, At least I’m strong and not bitter.
