Tempting Hearts
Tempting hearts with promises, Deceiving trust so deep, Whispered words like honeyed lies, Into souls they seep. Sweet tongue, a charmer’s art, Betrays a shallow core, Masquerading love complete, A façade we adore. The ribbons of deceit unfurl, Their colors, shades of art, Wrapped so tightly ‘round our hearts, A labyrinthine chart. In corridors of fickle hope, We stumble, blind and lost, Seduced by shadows of what could be, Irresistible at any cost. The truth obscured by silken masks, We willingly accept, Ensnared within the tangled web, Of promises inept. But oh, the fragrance of those vows, Still lingers in the air, A bittersweet and tainted scent, Caressing hearts laid bare. And so we dance upon the edge, Of dreams and shattered trust, For even brief moments in their arms, Seem worth the pain, unjust. Yet deep within our spirits yearn, For truths yet to reveal, To break the chains that hold us fast, Embrace what's real. We long to heal the wounds once caused, By tempting hearts gone astray, To find solace in the light of love, And let deception fade away. May we learn to see beyond, The allure that tempts our souls, And value more the trust we give, Than empty promises it holds.
