teenager
Once a little girl, Innocent and full of play, She dreamed of growing up one day, To be a teenager, cool and sway. But as she grew and time went by, She began to see with clearer eyes, That being a teen was not all fun, And growing up was not so easily done. The cliques and drama, the peer pressure, The crushes and heartbreaks, all in measure, The expectations and insecurities, Made her feel like she's lost her securities. But she was strong and she was smart, She knew that she had to play her part, To stay true to who she was inside, And not let the world change her stride. So she faced the challenges head on, And learned from the lessons that came along, She found her voice and she found her power, And blossomed into a beautiful flower. Now as a young woman, she looks back, At the little girl she used to be, off track, And she's proud of how far she's come, Of all the battles she has won. For she knows that life's not always fair, But with courage, she can go anywhere, And she'll keep on shining, bright as day, This little girl knew the way.
