Tea party in a storm of volts
Burned into the back of my brain, Doubt, Fire, Despair, A storm of the century, I took the pills, I spilled my soul On the therapist's bland couch, Yes I heard nothing but the crashing waves, The storm artful in its approach, Every nerve in my body, Registering the pounding force, Acceptance is what I've come to, My therapist's vocabulary used in the waylorn, For I know there's no stopping this storm, And so do they... My lifeguards, My valliant protectors, We don't speak directly of what's happening, We talk politely with our cups of coffee, While I see the world through the veil of grey Covering my eyes, Soon locked up, Laying on a bed In a gown, While the kind doctor I know Places cold electrodes on my temples, Put me to sleep it doesn't matter, Throw the switch, The electricity won't bother me any, The seizure only a minute? Then I can have the tea party in ten, Woken up and lead back to a locked ward, Feeling a slight headache but I will live, Several more times on the table, And my memory like worms through books, And the teaparty for one carries on with just a with just a little slice of lemon.
