Taking Life for Granted
"Never take anything for granted" A phrase I learned very young A phrase I recall learning for my fading Grandma "Never take anything for granted" they say "For it may be gone the very next day" But I'm so tired living on edge Waiting and anticipating everythings end I'm tired of looking at the world around me Waiting for it to come collapsing down I want to take things for granted And miss them when they leave Instead of the hollow sigh of relief Followed by the guilt when it's finally gone Just spare me some ignorance And think for now that everything will stay like this Let me mourn when it's truly gone Because I'm done grieving the things that aren't yet leaving.
