Swallow
I wish I could know What hurts inside So much that I can barely swallow Was it a word Was it a promise That told but never heard I wish I could see What others see inside me A smile Kindness maybe All I can see a darkness grow, silent, patient, moving slow. It fills the space I cannot name, it eats the light and leaves the same until no one sees what’s left of me, and even I stop asking who I used to be.
