Supporting Role
When I think of you it feels like my heart is going to burst. Butterflies consume my chest whirling face first into the dirt. I used to be the main character. Now, I cling to a supporting role. I'm left trying to decipher how you feel. I want to know why I'm no longer real. I took a seat, while wrapped in defeat. The more I fight it, it just won't give in. The traffic rushes by, I'm lying down in the middle of the street. The more I let it win, I discard living. Chasing after a feeling that is fleeting. I can't read your mind and it's forcing me to find an escape. I can't find the distinction on where to set the line. How far can I let go before I show I've lost my mind? Engulfed by your flames of blue. Falling into the horizon is a real treasure. I've built up fountains of tears over the years. Heaven as a setting will eventually rupture. You were strong and I was not. You stood tall during your fall. My mistake was not having fought. You made me feel so small. I'm kneeling down at your feet. I can't count the number of times I've been run over. I need to step up and listen to advice. I shouldn't have to die to find paradise.
