I knew your name. I’ve memorized your face and counted all its freckles. I knew you were hiding a scar in your left eyebrow. I knew you so well that when I look at my reflection in the mirror, I see you. But I didn’t know you enough to see the soul behind those gloomy eyes. We’ve been together so long, by bodies and not by souls. I knew how wide your smile could be, but I never knew how empty you are inside.
