"Sunlight, Safari, You"
We met beneath the sunlit skies of town, Your laugh a breeze that calmed my hurried soul, A smoothie in your hand, face in a frown— “Mango and ginger? That’s not the goal!” Yet even with that sip gone wrong, I knew There was something rare and bright in you, A day unfolding like a dream come true. We climbed aboard the matatu with a grin, Elbows brushing, knees close in the heat, To the Safari Walk where hearts begin— Lions yawned, zebras danced to our beat. You leaned in close to spot the cheetahs, Your eyes wide with a childlike, golden laugh, And I watched, quietly falling in love. By twilight’s hand we found a humble place, A dinner shared beneath KFC's soft light, Grease and stories painting joy on your face, Fingers brushing like stars breaking night. I walked you home, hearts quiet, hands warm— Each step a vow, a hope, a gentle storm, And turned away, already missing your light.
