Sucker Punched
Sucker Punched by Jack A.S. Dunce In a few steps the journey is done From the start, I've kept to my best laid plans Why am I back again in square one? I were so sure that I would have won This battle I already had in my hands In a few steps the journey is done The weight on my sore shoulders feels like a ton I thought I'd be now cruising in plush sedans Why am I back again in square one? I was about to slide for a home run my ears filled with ecstatic cheers of fans In a few steps the journey is done I were sure I'd be basking in the sun, and not back to hand washing mouldy pans Why am I back again in square one? Life packs a sucker punch next to none; it knocked me out cold for a few good lifespans In a few steps the journey is done Why am I back again in square one? ©️pgmr 07/29/2024 *Inspired by a Mike Tyson quote: "Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth."
