Stuck Between Worlds

She lived a life of confusion,  In a world others seemed to understand.  Old enough to be called grown,  Yet too young in a world so wicked. She wanders within her own mind,  Unsure of what is real and what is not.  Her life, she deems the worst,  Until she meets those who envy her. In this strange, unguided world,  No one shows her where to step or where to skip.  She grew up alone, forced to adulthood,  Now she’s stuck, trapped in the in-between. Yes, she’s stuck Stuck between adulthood and youth,  Between her mind and a reality she cannot accept.  She doesn’t want to believe  That life can be loving one moment,  And cruel the next. She yearns for a break,  A moment to breathe, to be alone,  A place where her mind can find peace.  She wants to be heard, but no one listens,  Dismissing her words as childish nonsense,  A pain that kills her inside. She’s dying within,  Yet forces a smile,  Understanding pain,  She shields others from the same.
