Strangers on Rails
Train hums low, wheels in beat, There she sat—our eyes did meet. No words passed, no names were said, Just stolen glances, thoughts unread. A window view, a shy half-smile, She looked away—heart paused awhile. Moments flickered, soft and brief, Like whispered wind on autumn leaf. Her headphones in, lost in a tune, Yet she lit the dull afternoon. No "hello", no need to stay— But she somehow made my day. Eyes spoke more than lips could try, A silent bond, we won’t deny. Different stops, the journey ends, Two near souls… not quite friends. Now the seat is cold and bare, But a memory lingers there. No address, no final scene, Just her in that train-bound dream.
