Strangers
I sat in a room surrounded by people I was in pain, but no one saw I sat in a room surrounded by people I called out for help, but no one heard I sat in a room surrounded by people I asked for water, but no one came I looked around at all the people as I slowly stood to walk away. As I stood in the room surrounded by people, I looked at each, and every face I saw their eyes, I heard their voice I felt their hearts.... With some of those hearts once held within mine As I looked at the room that was filled with these people People I knew but didn't know People I once thought I knew well Partners, family, friends, my children... They never looked, they never saw That my eyes were burning, Now empty of tears That my world was changing And my pain was real They never saw that my heart once filled with so much love was breaking, now broken More than ever before
