stories
If houses could tell stories What would your walls commit to memory? Would they whisper horror stories And scream your pain into me? Would they explain the demons locked inside your mind that did escape? Would they help me understand The decision that you made? Would they remind me of your laughter? Would it be tucked in some hidden room? Would the light that faded from your eyes Be trapped there with it too? Would they recall every melody? Could they remember it by heart? Could they play every song to me Do they remember where to start? If houses could tell stories I know what I would want to hear. I'd whisper back I love you Yet it would fall upon deaf ears.
