Soul Torture
And, then again I betrayed myself Recycling old memories Old moments Holding on to what's gone Addicted to pain and soul torture Trap in uncertainty of diverse emotions If I hadn't learn to forgive myself I'd be in the abyss Singing choirs of hate And dancing to the tune of bitterness I was lost, naive. Self esteem quenched I couldn't see the light Even though others saw and appreciated So I searched for peace In the wrong people and places I kept rekindling old love Hoping to find some succour Only to get bitten, twice and thrice I burnt my own soul With hopes to be accepted But I was drained I was a shadow of who I was meant to be My days were gloomy My thoughts weary So I turned to him for peace To the one I thought wouldn't fail. My soul was crushed with disappointments by those I thought valued who I was. Sadly, I was wrong So I learnt to be strong I set on the journey of self acceptance It was tough But I didn't want to give up So I won To love and cherish every fiber in me.
