Sorry Mom.
Oh, dear Mother, I beseech your forgiving heart, For the dreams I failed to realize, the hopes that fell apart, My aspirations, like autumn leaves, withered and gray, Leaving me with regret, in a life that's gone astray. I yearned to soar on eagle's wings, to touch the sky, To make you proud, to justify the sacrifices you applied, But fate, it seemed, had other plans, and I fell short, My potential, like a flower, unwatered, wilted and caught. My supplications, like whispers in the wind, went unheard, My entreaties, like autumn rain, unheeded, and blurred, The silence was deafening, the stillness, a heavy weight, That crushed my soul, and left me with an unrelenting fate. Being virtuous, it seemed, was not enough to thrive, My righteousness, like a garment, worn and frayed, alive, The world, it seemed, rewarded vice, and punished the just, Leaving me bewildered, lost, and forever dust. Forgive me, dear Mother, for not living up to your dreams, For not becoming the person you envisioned, it seems, My failure weighs upon me, like a cross I must bear, A constant reminder of what could have been, and what's been spared. Time may heal wounds, but memories linger on, Reminding me of what I didn't achieve.
