Sonnet to the Moonborn Muse
Thou art as fair as moonlight’s silver breath, Serene and still, with grace beyond compare. Thy beauty holds no flaw, nor time nor death, Can dim the light thy presence doth declare. Like empress crowned in silence thou dost move, With dignity that lifts thee to the skies. Thy glance, though soft, ignites the flame of love, And stars in envy gaze from heaven’s high. Yet never may these mortal hands embrace, The form that dwells in dreams, not earthly ground. For thou, like moon, art set in distant place, And I, earthbound, must love without a sound. Still shall I long while stars in night abide, Till fate and thine and mine at last be tied. ---
