Son to Mother
I know it ain’t easy mama, Taking care of three boys all alone No daddy to be found None at all But you’re strong mama, So very strong. You raised us three sons all alone. Wearin’ the daddy pants Wearin’ the mama pants, Cookin’ the food and Makin’ the money too. You played ball with us, Even though you hated it. You taught us football, Even though you understood none of it. You played soccer with us, Even though you weren’t the best on your feet. You cut our hair, Cause you learned from grandpa. You loved grandpa, And he was mad that daddy left you all alone. I haven’t seen ‘em in awhile. You said he was on a long trip, But that ain’t true, Is it, mama? I saw those tears down your face. Why would you cry, if he’s just on a trip? He’s gone forever, ain’t he? You lied, but it’s okay mama, You did it to protect us. But I know better. But I won’t tell anyone. I know you're scared mama, Of us leavin’ soon. Going to college, Finding love, Having kids. But i promise mama, I won't be like daddy. I won’t abandon my family. Just like you didn’t abandon us. From, Your son.
