SNAP
Am I overreacting? Am I slowly retracting Myself from my life? A horrible disaster needing a noose or knife Or am I fine Must I take this as a sign To breathe deep Maybe sleep Stop thinking about myself Take others needs off my shelf Put them first and me last For they live on and I am the Past Well I guess we'll see If it's you or me Who is the one my wrong, maybe it'll be both of us before long I'll be gone first To quench my unending thirst To be rid of life To snap myself out of this imagined strife (I hope it's imagined) Otherwise my sanity really is being bludgeoned Beaten up by real worries Real anxiety Not thought up nonsense To give myself a reason to fail Because "mentally I'm frail" When I'm actually fine And I need to draw the line For my imagination to stop Before it reaches the top Of a mountain of lies and unlocks the truth Which is arguably tougher to soothe And I'll be gone forever, not just in the poems Not just in conversation and wild fascination. We'll do it together And be separated forever By a simple SNAP
