Sleepwalking
Every day, the same old song I go to work, I carry on. You stay at home, you drift, you play, While our world quietly falls away. The house is weary, the children wild, I hold the weight, a ghost, a child. I turn to you for steady ground, But silence is the only sound. The years slip by a sleepless haze, I walk through life in fractured days. You scream, you break, you tear apart The little light I guard in heart. You cry, you beg, you swear you’ll change, You stitch sweet lies with careful range. And I too tired to fight or flee Say “yes” again, betraying me. But nothing shifts, the cycle spins, And numbness settles on my skin. Your tears now spark a quiet flame, Not love, not grief but burning shame. And still I stay, though I forget What love once was, or why I wept. A shadow now, I drift, I fade A life undone by choices made.
