Sleepless Nights, a Weary Soul
In the silence of the night's dark shade I lie awake, with a heart that's frayed My body screams for rest, for a peaceful night But my mind rebels, a restless, raging light My eyelids heavy, like anchors to the sea My limbs exhausted, drained of energy But my brain, a maelstrom, swirling with thoughts untold A jumble of worries, fears, and emotions, young and old I yearn to sink into slumber's soothing embrace To let my weary head find a peaceful, dreamless space But my mind refuses, a stubborn, wakeful guest It taunts me with memories, with anxieties, and unrest Like a wild animal, it prowls, and will not cease A relentless drumbeat, pounding out a frantic, sleepless ease I beg for respite, for a moment's peace But my mind denies me, a cruel, heartless release In this dark, wakeful world, I'm lost, alone, and blue A traveler without rest, a soul without a clue But still I hold on, to hope's frail, flickering light A beacon in the darkness, guiding me through the sleepless night.
