Sleepless in His Hold
That night, you held me, head on my chest, Your breath, slow and deep, in the quiet below. Sweat beaded down, yet you wouldn’t release, In your steady grip, you needed me to know. Five hours passed, but I stayed awake, Lost in your touch, feeling each breath. Though you slept, I heard every beat— In stillness, I found what words couldn’t confess. Now I lie here, sleepless since you, Haunted by moments too heavy to flee. I reach for the night that slipped from my hands— In the shadows, it lingers, just beyond me.
