sleep disorders
the doctors told my mother we wouldn't remember that we were too young to be affected by the events of that night maybe my brother was maybe it was his concussion, those tend to be more impactful on infants. He doesn't remember what happened the doctors were wrong though I remember. my bedroom became unsafe even to my small mind I woke up screaming every night without fail two years later my brain has started to suppress what it could growing children need sleep. not that He cared. have you ever noticed how many children sleep on their stomachs? how it becomes less common as we get older we start facing up or towards the door preparing subconsciously for any potential attack I stopped sleeping on my stomach at age 4 I stopped waking up screaming, it did me no good. by age 7 I was fully an insomniac my brain and body awaiting the regular attacks I started sleeping with my brother, a light on and elaborate traps set at the door to alert me that's the only way I got a few hours of respite the doctors told my mother to give me some melatonin, change my diet or I'd be stunted, I'd develop more issues growing children need their sleep. I still can't seem to catch up on all those missing hours.
