Silent Tears
Societal shackles blind,"Men don't cry", A mantra repeated, unit we deny. Our humanity, our hearts, our pain, And suffer silently, in vain. My father's words echo,"Be strong don't weep", But emotions swirl, and tears l must keep. Why must l hide, my true self from sight? Is vulnerability, a weakness in men's light? Tears fall like rain, in the dark of night As l struggle, to hold on to the fight To be the strong one, the rock and the guide But the weight of the world, beings to divide The mask l wear, begins to crack and fade As the pressures builds, and emotions are made To feel, to hurt, to heal and to mend But society's expectations, my true self must amend So let me cry, let my tears flow free For in embracing my emotions, l find me ln the silence, l hear my heart's voice Whispering words of love, and gentle sweet choice.
