Sidelined
Sidelined by Jack A.S. Dunce I volunteered to sit it out At almost end of half To ride the bench until the horn, Feigning an injured calf. I watched the others play the game With fire behind their eyes While mine remained glued to the floor Bemused at how sweat dries. This time around, I chose to play To fan another flame That caught on early with a burst But flamed out just the same. And when the final horn rang out, The room gave me a scowl. I shrugged my shoulders as I stood And threw in the towel. --🏵️-- ©️pgmr 06/25/2025
