Should've Been Easy
I don't know when it happened- When the smallest kindness became a luxury I'm ashamed to want it. A touch, a word, a moment where I'm held instead of being handled- I am starving for it. And you look at me as if I'm asking for the world. Nights wondering what it feels like to be someone people reach for without thinking- Nights I press my palm to the hollow of my own chest to feel something warm, because everything I have asked for has been met with the same cold silence that taught me to fold myself smaller than the spaces between your words. And yet, I keep reaching, hands trembling- Hoping this time you'll offer me the thing that should've been easy, that should've cost you nothing but somehow cost me everything. 🦋🦋🦋
