She/her
She was mute Not deaf though She wasn't mute to herself Why did nobody ever understand her She could hear her own voice But others didn't She couldn't say when she wanted love So she gave love to herself She could hear her brother speak Her father too But her mother was like her Mute, not deaf Until she could take it no more When she cried, her tears, were glossy drops They should have spoken volumes But they were a mere portrayal of herself Others should have known she wasn't happy But did they ever listen? No matter how loud she shouted No matter how much she shouted No one ever listened And as she sat down that evening, Contemplating suicide on that rooftop Because someone had taken off her clothes And had not even listened when she tried to tell him to stop Like everyone else, he had not even heard her A man sat down next to her And asked, little girl why are you crying And for the first time, someone had heard her And he told her, your voice is beautiful And she lacked words
