Shadows Where You Used To Be

Why can’t I see you anymore? Why can't it be as it was before? I remember your laughter here, Pulling me close, I knew not a fear, Unaware, that morning’s light Would turn you into a memory overnight. Why is this fate so cruel? Why did you leave me to rot in solitude? You were my haven in storms, The comfort in chaos, so warm. Your voice, now, a faint echo lingers All I can feel are cold shivers. Your image, the idea of you, so vivid in my mind, I long to see you, to have you rewind. I want to hug you once more, To feel you exist again, to hear you say my name. But for the first time, I could scream out to you And you wont respond. Yet no matter how I cry or plead, All that remains are shadows, shadows indeed.
