Seventeen Forty
Sore as I lay down for the night Sweating out a pesky cold Sleep evading my eyes Playing peaks and valleys w/ wanderlust At seventeen I gained my first sense of maturity but by forty, I lost it. I don't claim the pain I'm heading toward I've killed the pains long enough, I stand on hands like pins and needles my nerves expand I cannot free them I plan to be here I plan for a future with you in mind I've been so hypersexualized I'm pinned by superstition and prowess Like a dumbell of cucumbers splattered over my eyes Like the difference between who I am now ND who I was before. Live your life without me As I was before you And you will be too, Right after me Be at peace, sweet honey bee Take your time my seventeen forty For you've earned the miles You have cursed those years For in loneliness you smile You are blessed my seventeen forty This is true The only difference that entitles you is the 23 years it cost you. Be at peace my live, my sweet Aisha
