Sense of Longing
The heart feels heavy, like a stone it bears, A weight unseen, a whisper in the breeze. It seeks a comfort, past forgotten cares, A memory that hangs among the trees. A longing swells, a tide within the soul, For faces lost, or dreams that slipped away. A half-remembered story to make whole, A brighter, clearer, more enduring day. The world moves on, but still, it cannot mend This aching space, this emptiness inside. A silent plea, a reaching without end, For something missed, where peace might then reside. This yearning stays, a constant, gentle sting, A hope that someday, joy the heart will sing.
