Seasons of You
With the rain, reality cried, Washing the dreams I kept inside. You came in winter, calm and bright, A spark of hope in endless night. You held my soul with hands so warm, A quiet hush before the storm. But now it’s summer, skies turned wide, And you have vanished with the tide. I tried to kill this love I feel, To tell my heart it wasn’t real. But love is not so quick to die It lingers still in every sigh. Why, why must it end this way? Why does love so often stray? Is this the truth we’re dreaming of? Is hurt the cost of deepest love? Each time it comes, it leaves a scar, Like falling stars that fade too far. They say love’s light, a sacred fire, But mine burns low beneath desire. It’s meant to lift, to make us whole, But it just empties out my soul. I once believed, I truly did But now I close my heart and lid. For trusting now feels like a war, And love’s a wound I can’t ignore. You came in cold, you left in heat, And left me broken, incomplete. So if love knocks again someday, I might not answer right away. For what they call the greatest art, Has only torn my world apart.
