Scarlet Gleam
Anger drips down the small of my back Sputtering out of my mouth as I whine And in my mind, this stream is my blood And my blood is hot, and I'm alive And I'm not the reptile you tell me to be But only ever in my darkest dreams Blood burns my skin, sizzling into the air It hurts, and I punch and scream I punch and scream at myself, hurting I hurt myself, screaming and punching Father spit venom giving me my name While my mother took the sting for me And this little boy looks just like him He looks like him like he looks like mom And I spit my venom right back at him And the longer it runs, the colder it gets But the longer I run the hotter I get And I'm getting cold, I should go home But I don't belong to any place of my own And it'll just sizzle and stream Only as I hear my sister scream Watching his hand shine a scarlet gleam
