Saturate
She brings me home chocolate and drugs, arguments and sweaty hugs. Self-induced paranoia. I suck the dragon off the foil. She doesn't trust me but leaves me to sit. Hours and hours on end, welcomed by the twilight hours. She gets high to dance with the shadows then asks permission to sleep beside. A nest of syllables and verbs inside caccooned of prophecy and sad times. Let's play pretend and pray to pry as I paint my emotions across the canvas. Red, purple, white, and yellow all take an inch with a solid brush stroke. Sunpoison and sunburn, we cleanse our bodies when we walk for miles. Rubber soles pound on lonely blacktop. She catches me off guard, when she insists this frown is a smile.
