Safety
Wait, stop. I said. You didn't even take time to blink. You immediately made the word stop. The wind quieted, the crickets stopped, the birds stopped singing. The pain settled, the fear stopped. Two words, and you made everything vanish. You waited, you waited until i gave the word. Then you brought the world back to life. You didn't make me feel ashamed for asking you to stop. You didn't complain, you didn't demand to continue, you didn't take a moment to decide if you wanted to stop, you didn't force me to hurry up and adjust, you didn't sigh as you waited. Safe. You made me feel safe. You make me feel safe. You make the cruel and twisted world, feel safe. Safety, i have never known. It has always just been a foreign word to me. Safety i never found in anyone, Safety i never found in a home, Safety i never knew existed. But when i step into your arms, oh how Safety feels as if it is the only thing that ever existed. In your presence, in your arms, is where safety lies.
