Sad Promises
It's what you make When you know it's a lie It's what you say When no one else is witness They're cheap, plenty and easily broken Don't carry them on you Your clothes will have holes in them You'll smell like something died Don't give them to a friend Nor loan them to your lover In fact just give them to anyone else But especially not your mother But remember The promises you break Have a way Of making themselves back to you someday
