Rose
Gaze upon withered petals, each defined and unique. Pearls of dew seek infusion, roots growing tired and weak, gathering in grouped stale, curtains of time, while drips of hope prevail. Pollen awaits, the bees tempt its glory, singing a song, it's hums, the story. Each petal that falls, a new scar it creates, lines of tragedy, dwells within. Rose shapes new fate, stem repaired, then shattered again. Hidden beneath the solitude, breaking ground in silence, I speak out, I cry out, injustice of domestic violence. Cruelty replaced loyalty, Betrayal for beloved, women hide their abuse, and stay where not loved. 13 years have taken my light, I'm a warrior who had lived, now prepared for the fight new armor I give. I wrap myself in thorns, my vines hold on tight, The pillow holds the secrets, of each tear I shed at night. By: JLS
