Rising from the Ashes
I was born where the nights felt long, In a house where the pain was strong. My uncle’s mind, a storm untamed, And poverty called us by our names. Yet through the dark, my voice would rise, A special child with hopeful eyes. I’d sing my songs, so pure, so bright, Turning sorrow into light. Church was home, the pews my throne, Prayers I whispered, seeds were sown. With Bible stories, I would teach, So my family knew what God would preach. The chains that bound, I broke them wide, With faith and fire deep inside. A curse once strong, now lies in dust, For in His name, I placed my trust. From struggle’s grip, I spread my wings, To halls of learning, greater things. Challenges came, I faced them tall, Each lesson learned, I’d never fall. For mother’s love, for father’s hands, For friends who helped me take a stand, I thank them all, their words so true, They shaped the me you’re listening to. Now here I stand, no chains remain, A living tale of conquered pain. And though the past still calls my name, I smile, I’ve won, I’ve changed the game.
