Riki's Lament
I’m Riki the cat, with soft gray fur, Once spoiled with love, a gentle purr. My world was warm, a cozy song— But now it feels so cold, so wrong. She held me close, my fur mom dear, Her laughter light, her voice so near. We'd chase the sun across the floor, Then curl in dreams and purr some more. I slept between her heart and his, A little life wrapped up in bliss. Her arms were home, her scent was peace— Now all I have are fading pieces. She’s gone—where did my comfort go? I search the halls, but still don’t know. My fur dad holds me, strong and kind, But her soft warmth I cannot find. I nuzzle clothes that still smell sweet, I wait by doors, I guard her seat. The bed feels big, the nights too long, Without her hum, her midnight song. So here I sit and softly cry, A little cat who wonders why. Come back, dear mom, come back to me— Your Riki waits… eternally.
