Ride the Sunset
Ride the Sunset by Jack A.S. Dunce I've driven on this route a thousand times; I barely bother with the passing view That stayed the same throughout my whole lifetime. Today, it seemed, would offer nothing new. My old reliable car choked onetime, It never did before -- a mere hiccup. It revved to life with a flip of a dime, And once again my stalled journey picked up. A road mishap at an intersection Diverted traffic to a small side street, A very unfamiliar direction That made me feel uneasy in my seat. To calm my nerves I bought a cup of brew At some roadside cafe I came across. I took a sip expecting to taste glue, Instead it felt just right, not at all gross. I kept to the new route that headed west. It felt like I mapped it at the outset; I completely leaned back on the backrest As I drove onwards facing the sunset. --🏵️-- ©️ pgmr 07/02/2025 *Inspired by photos taken by @grey S, and dedicated to her
