Return from Grief
Hey, I'm back, I'm back from my long journey to the land of grief. It’s so pretty in grief land, So green with the grass of numbness, A high mountain called Depression I really struggled to climb it. There was River Guilt, Flowing steadily and strongly through the land. That’s where I quenched my thirst every day. The water was a bit salty, But I got used to it. And I sure enjoyed it there. I enjoyed swimming in the pool of my own tears, And bathing in the silence That echoed louder than voices. I enjoyed my stay with Loneliness And his friend, Sadness. Hey, I'm back. Did you miss me? Or maybe you didn’t even notice my absence. No one came knocking on my door to check if I was okay. No message to ask if I was enjoying it there. Maybe… No one really cared. But not to worry The people of grief land are very generous. They gave me a gift. They gifted me selfishness To care for myself, Because no one ever did. They gave me another friend, A friend who understands me. I think I love this friend More than I can explain They gave me Hope, To be hopeful In the middle of a storm. So yes, I’m back, With Hope and Self-priority as my new friends
