Retrieving What's Lost
You were my golden retriever boy, Full of light, Always eager, always near. You’d yap about the smallest things, You were sweet, You were mine. But now, it’s gone. All of it. People change, they say— Like seasons shifting without warning. And it’s true. I see it in you. I miss you. I miss the way you used to be. I miss the boy Who loved me without question. If only I wasn’t so selfish, So stuck in my own head. If only I didn’t do The things that broke you. If only I tried harder. But I didn’t. What a fool I was. Was it too much? Was I too much? So much that it changed you, Turned you into someone I barely know. What a shame.
